Look at these directions. They are written in simple sentences.

Simple sentences are good for giving instructions one clear step at a time, but if you only use simple sentences in your writing, it does not flow or sound very stylish.

Coming by car:

Come off the motorway at junction 5.
Take the A335 towards the city centre.
Turn left at first set of traffic lights.
Keep going straight on.
Our road is the next left after the Aldi supermarket.
