Floor plan of a room made up of a rectangle, length 6 metres, width 4 metres, with a rectangular recess, 1 metre deep, along the top length.
When you click on the picture you find out how to work out the perimeter of the room. The rectangle is labelled clockwise ABCD. A dotted line joins the gap in the opening of the recess along the top side AB.
The audio says:
The dotted line is the same length as the top wall of the room. It makes the rectangle ABCD. Calculate the perimeter of ABCD and add on the two short one-metre walls.
The perimeter of the rectangle ABCD is 20 metres. The perimeter of the room is 20 metres plus 2 metres which is 22 metres.
