Tips for answering questions

  • Read the question carefully.

  • Read the text carefully.

  • Remember that names, days, months and titles always start with a capital letter.

  • A common noun only has a capital letter when it is part of a name, for example: I live at 27, Park Road.

  • Remember that a sentence makes sense; it is nothing to do with how long it is.

  • Use clues to help you spot questions:
    • question words at the start of the sentence: who, what, when, where, why, how
    • do, does, or did at the start of the sentence
    • word order: it is, is it?

  • Check your answer before you move on.
