Fractions are sometimes used in sales and discounts.

• In a sale there is money off the normal price. The amount off is the reduction in price. The amount you pay is the sale price.
• A discount means money off the normal price. The discount is the amount off. The amount you pay is the discounted price, or the price with discount.
